Part 3, Chapter 3 Summary
At Wynand's office, Dominique tells Wynand that Steven Mallory sculpted the figure for Roark's interfaith temple and the story of why she was fired. Wynand hadn't realized that Mrs. Peter Keating was the Dominique Francon who worked for his paper. She offers to sleep with him to get Peter the Stoneridge Homes commission. Wynand accurately realizes that she is punishing herself, but he accepts her offer, planning to take her on a cruise in exchange for Peter's commission.
Wynand arranges to see Mallory's sculptures and buys several. He goads Toohey for keeping the name of the sculptor from him. Why wouldn't he remember the name of the man who tried to shoot him? Wynand then has dinner with Dominique and Peter. Wynand reassures Peter that he is getting the commission, referring to the deal with Dominique. Peter becomes upset and leaves the table.
