Part 2, Chapter 4 Summary

Peter finds that he doesn't understand Lois Cook's books, and so he thinks that they must be very abstruse - beyond his understanding. This is, of course, the mark of genius. Peter also sees a drawing of Roark's new Enright House, which doesn't even look like a building to him. The structure is crystalline, rising out of rocks. Peter meets again with Toohey and Katie. Toohey grills Peter about Roark, asking seemingly irrelevant questions, not about Roark's architecture. Peter's relationship with Katie seems strained, and he is annoyed with her. When Peter meets Lois Cook, he is disconcerted by her. She says that she wants an ugly house to deny everyone's idea of beauty. Peter takes on the project, though her attitude dismays him. The result is what Toohey calls, not.....
