Gaia - The Search Begins Summary

Foundation and Earth is the story of one man's quest to justify a decision he's already made. The story begins with Golan Trevize asking why he had decided that all of humankind should become part of Gaia. Gaia is a planet of a single consciousness, a single super organism, in a sense. Trevize begins by explaining to Dom, a Gaian elder, the reason he feels he must search for Earth. It's notable that Trevize questions the lack of documents related to the subject. Though he has no concrete information, he believes in the myths and stories that indicate that Earth did - and does - exist. Trevize makes plans to go in search of Earth. Pelorat, who had traveled to Gaia with Trevize, announces that he intends to accompany Trevize......
