Summary

Katherine goes to Michael’s graduation and after that to a party at his house. She finally meets his parents and his mother introduces her to everyone as “Michael’s little friend.” Katherine doesn’t really care for her description. An uncle of Michael’s comes over and asks Katherine what she wants to do with her life. Katherine tells him that she wants to be happy and make other people happy. He says that is not enough and she says that’s all she knows right now and walks away. That night Michael and Katherine make love in her den on the rug in front of the fireplace for old time’s sake.
