Summary

Forever... opens with an introduction to Erica Small’s cousin Sybil Davison, who is a genius but sleeps around with various guys because of her self-esteem issues as a result of being overweight. Erica is Katherine’s best friend and they live in Westfield, New York. Erica and Katherine go to Sybil’s New Year’s party where Katherine meets a guy named Michael Wagner, who has glasses and reddish-blond hair. Katherine is immediately attracted to Michael but becomes defensive and pretends that she doesn’t like him. As she admits later, “It’s true that I come on strong with my sarcastic act sometimes, but only when I’m interested in a guy.” Erica tells her that this is because she is insecure.
