Summary

Jason and Ruth go to Ruth’s apartment. Jason feels somewhat guilty, as he realizes that he is using Ruth in order to gain a temporary hiding place. He then realizes that there is a tracking device in the police pass he is carrying, so he destroys it. Chapter 10 shifts focus to Buckman, who is meeting with McNulty. Buckman believes that, because there are no files on Jason Taverner, Jason has somehow destroyed them all. Buckman therefore also believes that Jason must be a spy for rebels against the government. McNulty informs Buckman that Jason went to Las Vegas and then destroyed the tracking device, Buckman realizes that Alys has overheard the conversation; Buckman tells her to go home.
