Chapter 10: The Visit Summary
On Sundays, the family usually slept late but on this day, Juli woke early and was watering the grass when she spotted her father getting ready to leave. He was going to visit David in the institution. It was his fortieth birthday. Juli decided that she wanted to go with him. They didn't talk much on their drive over to Greenhaven. David was thrilled to see Robert and Juli. David's wall was covered with completed puzzles that were glued on. The gift that Robert brought was another puzzle - a three-thousand piece puzzle that was all blue sky and white clouds. A yellow and red pinwheel took the place of a bow on the package. David screamed "Orange" as he blew on the pinwheel.
Robert and Juli took David to a local drugstore where they had ice cream cones and sat at an outside table. David dropped his cone...
