Chapter 4: The Sycamore Tree Summary

Juli's father was a bricklayer by trade but spent his free time painting landscapes. Juli liked to watch him paint. He seemed to transcend his surroundings and even the world. He seemed to be a spiritual experience for him. She was upset one day when he asked her why she liked Bryce so much. She talked about his black hair and bright blue eyes but her father said she needed to look at the full landscape. Juli's father's appreciation of the arts and beauty encouraged her own love of nature and beauty. That was why she became enchanted with the sycamore tree.
