Summary
Neve’s time in Glasgow has made her realize just how happy she is when she is entirely on her own, forgettable and held accountable to no one. Her mother finally comes for a visit, which is something that annoys Neve before she even arrives. She notes that she has never let a person into her life, into her home, and that she never has since this visit with her mother. Neve describes her mother as arriving with far too many bags for such a short visit and is distracted by the flamboyant outfit her mother chooses to present herself in. As per usual, her mother has nothing to speak of except men in her life. Her mother is obsessed with her ex, Rodger, and is highly focused on snatching her current hopeful boyfriend, Eric.
