Part 3: Chapters 1-12 Summary

More than twelve hours later, Teasle is in the back of a National Guard truck parked near the same field where the state trooper found him that morning. Teasle should be in the hospital, but has insisted on being a part of the man hunt for Rambo. Kern, the commander of the state police, continues to question his health, but Teasle convinces him he is fine despite the pain and heart palpitations he continues to have. Kern tells Teasle that a couple of civilians accidentally shot one another and that they are removing all the civilian volunteers from the area. Teasle agrees with that decision, telling Kern about a search he was once a part of in which the civilians came out in such numbers that it was chaotic.
