Sue Trinder

Sue is the protagonist or main character of the novel. She is a fingersmith, raised in the slums of London. Drawn into a scheme to make her fortune, she is duped by the woman who raised her with great love and protected her from all that could harm her. She is essentially a kind and gentle person who is tricked by those she loves most, and compelled to forsake the woman she loves to make the fortune of the woman who raised her.
