Chapters 8-11 Summary

Chapter 8. It is Sunday. Laura and her daughters are on the cliffs with Kate and Margo, searching for Serafina's dowry as they have done every week since they were kids. Ali hounds Laura about buying a horse, deciding that she is now an expert horsewoman since Michael has been giving her lessons. Conversation then turns to Peter's upcoming wedding and Laura finds herself sickened by the idea of Candy as her daughters' stepmother. Laura tells the girls to set up lunch to end the conversation. Alone with Margo and Laura, Kate announces that she thinks she might be pregnant. Then Michael surprises them all with an appearance. Michael pulls Laura aside and tells her that he thinks Ali is a natural horse rider and that she might think about getting her a more experienced teacher. Laura becomes annoyed because it seems...
