Chapter 30 Summary

The next morning Sadler wakes Snake up and tells him to get his men on the line. Snake is confused, but Sadler tells him they discussed everything last night. Snake doesn't remember having a conversation with Sadler the night before. He gets up anyway and lines his men up. There are twelve in total and a lot of new guys that need nicknames. Snake feels that something heavy is going down. He's not sure and no one will tell him, but he knows. Sadler tells them all that they will be getting clean new uniforms and flak jackets. The General is giving them a Meritorious Union Citation and medals. They are all excited. Hodges tells Bagger that the Meritorious Union Citation is for something that happened before he and the other men even arrived in Vietnam. It takes a while for these things...
