Chapter 6 Summary

Hodges sees dead bodies all over the place, but slowly makes his way over to where Flaky is. Flaky starts talking right away and asks Hodges where he's from. Hodges tells him he's from Kentucky, and Flaky starts naming all the guys from the South. Hodges doesn't like Flaky, he can tell right away. Flaky pulls a camera out of his pocket and asks Hodges to take his picture with a dead Vietnamese soldier.

After taking a few photos for Flaky, he hands the camera back and asks Flaky for a burn call (where they gather the pieces of bloody clothing, battle dressings, and garbage lying around to burn). Flaky looks at him and he grows more impatient by the moment. A few yards away, Snake is sizing up the new recruits, giving them nicknames, and telling them which unit they'll be with...
