Chapters 7-8 Summary

Michael goes off to his guitar gig as Claire makes chili dogs for herself and Shane at home, unable to contain her excitement at Michael's performance. Shane agrees she should go so Eve doesn't have to be at Common Grounds alone. Claire wears a short skirt and tights, but puts a looser top on so she won't be embarrassed if her parents show up. Shane wears his usual slacker-casual style, though he seems to have combed his hair a little. Before they leave, When Shane kisses her passionately, they both entertain the idea of staying at home alone. Shane suggests they "live dangerously" by walking over to Common Grounds though it is dark. Claire reflects that this is her first real date with Shane—their first real date out on their own.
