Chapters 3 Summary

The following morning, Claire wakes up to a new day that seems to be brighter and worry-free. Only when she is in the shower do memories of the past night flood back upon her and she realizes that things are not so well, after all. She walks down to the still-disheveled kitchen and leaves for school. As she ambles along, it occurs to her that the town looks like any normal place, that no one would believe what really goes on in Morganville under cover of darkness. Monica Morrell, her archenemy and the daughter of the town's mayor, drives by in a red convertible, stops the car and accuses Claire of trying to kill her with bad drugs.
