The summer passes pleasantly for them. Soon Henry is able to get around, and they go for carriage rides and out for dinner in the evenings. Their favorite restaurant is the Gran Italia, and George, the headwaiter, always saves them a seat. When they return to the hospital at night Henry follows Catherine while she makes her rounds, and helps her in some cases if the patient is a friend. Henry and Catherine had made a pact that they would at least say they were married from the first day Catherine came to the Milan hospital.
