Summary

Maya's father asks if she would like to see their mother at "the center" during Family Weekend on that Saturday (309). Lauren will go, but Maya does not say that she will go. Lauren asks Maya what she will do instead, but Maya keeps it secret that she is going to drive three hours away to see if she could find her mother. When Lauren asks if she is angry at their mother, Maya says yes, that she picked wine over them, and now they are "cleaning up her mess" (312). Maya promises Lauren that she will not leave her behind, but that they are on different paths, but will meet at the end. In the middle of the night, Maya texts Claire to meet up with her. They meet at the park and Claire tells her that Maya pushed her away and broke her...
