Chapters 8-11 Summary

In Chapter 8, Heaven has a sleepless night. During the wee hours, she thinks she hears piano music. Heaven goes against her judgment and searches the house for Troy. When she does not find him, she uses the tunnels to go to Troy's cabin. They have a night of passion.

Minutes after Heaven returns to her suite, she hears Martha scream. Jillian is dead. Jillian swallowed the whole bottle of tranquilizers. Martha feels guilty for not knowing that Jillian had sneaked into her room. Jillian had known that the tranquilizers were not vitamins as Martha had claimed. Tony dissolves in grief when he sees Jillian.

Heaven stays by Tony's side. She wonders who she pities more - Tony or Jillian. Heaven decides that Tony deserves her pity because Jillian is now at rest.
