Chapter 22 Summary
Night falls and Perry and Peewee are stuck on the ridge. They no longer hear anything from the rice paddies below and don't know if the squad has been wiped out or not. They hear Vietnamese voices and fire at them, but then Peewee sees that it's a huge group.
Running the other way, they find a Cong spider hole, which is a hiding place for the Congs, and they slip into it. All night they spend in the hole and in the morning they kill the VC whose hole it is and get out.
Making their way to the Landing Zone, they see Monaco is being held at gunpoint by a small group of VC. Perry and Peewee burst out and start fighting and a chopper does come for them. Peewee is hit and, as they get into the chopper, Perry gets hit in the leg.
