Chapter 19 Summary
They have to take the tags off all their dead soldiers and burn the bodies, so the enemy doesn't mutilate them. The ARVNs and Americans head for the same pick up zone, but they take different routes and the ARVNs come under fire. A power struggle results between Stewart and Johnson. Stewart tells them to stay down, but Johnson starts moving forward and everyone follows him. They come upon a whole platoon of NVAs (enemy) in a clearing and start attacking. A jet comes and drops Napalm on the clearing.
Chapter 19 Analysis
In this very short chapter Perry sees yet another atrocity of war, a GI who died with his hands on the neck of a NVA and killed him by the rigor mortis of his hands.
