Chapter 18 Summary

A new private gets hit at the camp, but it isn't a serious wound. Their squad is going on patrol with the ARVNs, but there is disagreement about who is going first. There is a hill that needs to be checked out and the ARVNs want the Americans to go first. The Company goes up the hill and doesn't see anything, so the ARVNs decide to take the hill and take the credit for it. Then the hill is suddenly alive with gunfire. The ARVNs are getting hit badly and the Americans help as much as they can. Congs are everywhere.

The ARVNs gather together to attack the village in the area. Perry is very tired, but they all follow. He throws a grenade into a hut but forgets to take the pin out. Luckily the VC inside the hut throws it away from him still without...
