Chapter 16 Summary

In the hospital Perry finds out that he is both lucky and unlucky. His wounds are minor, so they will heal fine, but he will also have to go back to his unit and continue fighting.

He runs into Judy Duncan, the nurse from the ride over, and has a hard time talking to her. The other men there call him strange and say that men who come from the boonies are always a little off. When the orders do come for Perry to go back he feels panic. He wants to run away to Sweden, but doesn't know how to get there. He throws up; his hands are sweating.
