Chapter 8 Summary

Out on Patrol with Charlie Company's fourth platoon, Perry is paired up with a guy named Scotty. Shooting starts and Doyle calls in artillery. Phosphorous is dropped from the air. Moments later they discover the people they attacked were their own first platoon. Perry counts at least seventeen body bags with their own people and many more wounded. Perry gets back to his own Company and has to tell them the radio they heard saying there was a big conflict with VC was wrong and that they shot their own men. Perry says that he wasn't firing and it wasn't his fault, but he can't sleep and goes to find a Bible from which he can get The Lord's Prayer.
