Summary

Part II: The Solution: The Four Rules for Fair Play

Chapter 4 is titled “Rule #2: Reclaim Your Right to Be Interesting” and opens with the line, “Don't get lost in the shuffle” (83). Eve shares a story about a woman named Josie who loved to ski before marrying. However, Josie's plans to ski after marrying and having children were thwarted. She planned a ski vacation, but her skis were lost in transit. She wanted to search for them while they were at the airport, but the children were having meltdowns and her husband was not “magnanimously offering” (84) to take care of the kids and she left without them. The trip was a disaster, and Josie did not get to ski at all.
