Book 1, Canto 8 Summary

Arthur rides with Una and the dwarf to the castle where Red Cross is held prisoner, and Arthur blows his horn to call out Orgoglio. The giant emerges, followed by Duessa riding a fantastic seven headed beast. Arthur and Orgoglio have a battle worthy of a Mel Gibson movie, with the dwarf trying to help out and nearly getting killed by Duessa for his trouble. Eventually, after much toil, and the unveiling of an extremely bright shield, Arthur is victorious. Una runs into the castle to find her knight, and the nearly dead Red Cross is helped out of the dungeon by Una and Arthur. They force Duessa to strip before him so that he can see her witchy nature, then force her to flee into the woods.....
