Chapters 9-11 Summary

In Chapter 9, a week later, Janie and the other Chem 2 students leave for their trip to Michigan Tech. It is snowing heavily, but the snow lets up several hours into the trip. Janie is aware of Mr. Durbin's continued interest in her even though she has been trying to avoid him. However, he is the driver and does not sleep, so she cannot enter his dreams. No one else dreams on the ride either.

That night, when they reach the hotel, Janie enters the dreams of two of her roommates. One is a normal dream of frustration and inadequacy, but another dream appears to take place during a party. This party is filled with naked bodies and the dreamer becomes buried under a pile of bodies. Janie manages to pause this dream and gets a look at someone with a cell...
