Chapters 22-23 Summary

Kinsey goes to Shana's and again finds her apartment abandoned. Kinsey looks around the house. Outside, amongst some other garbage, Kinsey finds the card she had noticed in the kitchen the day before. Inside the card is a rendezvous scheduled for the previous Wednesday at a place called Sanctuary. Kinsey immediately thinks of the church, so she goes there to speak to Reverend Haws. Kinsey finds Mrs. Haws preparing for Tap's funeral. Kinsey asks Mrs. Haws if her husband could be the person who was scheduled to meet Shana, but Mrs. Haws does not know anything about it. When Kinsey begins to ask about Jean, the reverend appears. Kinsey goes with him to his office where he immediately tells her that he is firing her on Royce's behalf.
