Chapters 17-19 Summary

Dr. Dunne comes into his office, surprised to find Kinsey there. Kinsey introduces herself and begins asking questions about Jean. Dr. Dunne refuses on grounds of confidentiality. Dr. Dunne then goes to the door and calls for his wife. Elva Dunne comes after Kinsey with a tennis racket, connecting with Kinsey's arm. Kinsey becomes enraged and punches Elva in the jaw. Dr. Dunne's attitude suddenly shifts and he becomes the concerned doctor, bandaging Kinsey's knuckles and giving her pain killers for her bruised arm. Dr. Dunne also relents and tells Kinsey that Jean came to him the day she learned she was pregnant, insisting on an abortion, but he refused. When Kinsey asks if he knows who Jean's father was, Dr. Dunne skirts the question and then leaves the room.
