Chapters 3-4 Summary

The Fowlers live in an apartment behind the main desk. When Kinsey arrives, no one is at the desk, but Ann is nearby and invites her into the apartment. Kinsey is introduced to Ori Fowler, Royce's wife, a diabetic who also suffers from arthritis and is something of a hypochondriac. Ann leaves Kinsey alone with Ori while she goes to put on water for tea. Kinsey asks Ori about Bailey and learns that Bailey got involved with someone named Tap Granger with whom he committed some robberies. Ori also tells Kinsey that Bailey dated Jean Timberlake before going to jail on a robbery charge and that Jean worked both at the Ocean Street Motel and the Eucalyptus Mineral Springs. The phone rings, distracting Ori, so Kinsey goes to speak to Ann. Ann tells her that Royce has set up an appointment...
