Chapters 46 - 49 Summary

Thomas has been so ill that he does not know what is happening until Flagg comes to prepare him for his coronation. Thomas does not want to be king and fights the idea, but Flagg will not allow him. Flagg assures him that he will be okay and then implies that he, Flagg, is leaving to protect himself from the possibility of suspicion due to his closeness to Peter. Thomas begs Flagg to remain and be his top adviser; Flagg agrees. Thomas is sick the night before he is to be crowned, so Flagg gives him a potion to get him through the coronation. Flagg notices how like his father Thomas is, and Flagg is excited at the bright future he sees ahead of the two of them.
