Chapters 34 - 36 Summary

Peter has two butlers who care for his needs, Brandon and his son Dennis. Dennis comes to Peter's rooms early in the morning to start the fire and prepare for breakfast. Dennis likes Peter and has only angered Peter once when he forgot to put a napkin on his lunch tray. On the morning of Roland's death, Dennis reluctantly went to work as always. Dennis enters Peter's rooms and finds smoke pouring from the bookshelf. Dennis opens the secret compartment and finds a dead, smoking mouse. Dennis pats the fire out with his hand and takes what he has found in an ash bucket back to his home.

Dennis refuses to talk to his mother and waits for his father to return. Brandon returns home and goes into Dennis's room to find.....
