Exodus is filled with heartrending separations, which seem to be the order of the day. David Ben Ami loves Joradana Ben Canaan. He serves as her brother's right-hand man in Haganah operations before and after World War II, and he yearns to see her when the Exodus appears likely to sail for Palestine.
