Elsie

Elsie is a character in the story “Dosas.” She is a Haitian woman living in Miami and working as a home attendant, meaning she takes care of sick and/or elderly people in their homes. Her husband, Blaise, left Elsie to be with another woman, Olivia. When Blaise calls and says that Olivia is being held for ransom in Haiti, Elsie contributes $5,000 to the ransom payment, possibly out of persistent love and loyalty to Blaise. However, Elsie later learns that Olivia was never kidnapped and that Blaise and Olivia are living in Haiti after scamming multiple people.
