Kate Bowler

Kate Bowler is the author, main character, and narrator of the memoir Everything Happens For A Reason. She is in her mid-thirties, married to her high school sweetheart, and is the mother of a toddler. She is a graduate of Duke University where she is currently a professor at the Duke Divinity School. She is a religious studies scholar who is an expert on the prosperity gospel, which was also the subject of her first book, Blessed.

Kate is hard-working, loving, and full of self-determination. She believes she can control and direct her life, even when faced with unexpected challenges and tragedies. She refuses to surrender to her misfortunes and maintains a rigorous schedule so that she does not miss any moments with her family.
