Chapter 8 Summary

In chapter eight, Bianca is nearly hysterical, asking if she'd killed Lucas. She's allowed to go to Mrs. Bethany's cottage where Lucas is being kept in bed. Adrian says a vampire has to drink more than a pint of blood to harm a human, but Bianca learns humans tend to slip into a trance of sorts after the initial shock of the bite. Adrian says that means Lucas won't remember what happened. Bianca argues but eventually gives in to the demands that they'll have to fabricate a story to explain Lucas' injury. Mrs. Bethany is obviously angry but lenient because she says Bianca is only the third vampire she's met since 1812 who was born rather than made. Bianca says her parents had warned her she'd someday feel the urge to bite, but hadn't really understood until it happened. Later that evening, Celia reminds...
