Chapters 5 through 8 Summary

In Chapter Five, Damen joins Haven, Miles, and Ever at their lunch table. He says he's lived in several cities and the others take it that he's a military brat. Ever spends so much energy trying to ignore Damen that she doesn't realize until after lunch they are making plans for all three to get together Friday at Ever's house. She can't find a way to refuse.

In Chapter Six, Damen approaches Ever after art class with the news that he can't go to her house after all. In the car after school, Ever shares the news with Miles. Miles says he's confused about Ever's attitude. He says he's sure she's "drop dead gorgeous" though it's difficult to tell because of the clothes she wears, and that there's a handsome guy who's interested in her but she won't react to him...
