Chapters 16-20 and Epilogue Summary

Chapter 16. As Sam lies dying in his arms, Paen turns her into a vampire to save her. However, this results in Sam losing her soul. Paen is guilt ridden for his actions and Sam is tortured by the lack of a soul. When Clare learns what has happened, they discuss ways to get her soul back, but none of them are actionable. Their only hope is to find the Simia Gestor Coda. Paen wants to search for it immediately, but Sam insists they find the monkey statue first to save his mother's soul.
