Prologue: Shade of Fear Summary

A Shade is a being that is not human, and it senses danger with extra senses and glowing eyes while in the woods. Nearby, 12 Urgals, heavily armed monsters with horns on their heads and bowed legs, search for an unseen enemy.

The monsters shiver while they search in the dark and cold forest. The Shade unsheathes his sword and continues to wait, hissing at the Urgals for quiet. Three white horses are cantering into the area. Atop the horses sit three elves, two males and a female with raven hair. They are all armed with powerful bows, and the female also possesses a sword.

The Shade and the Urgals spy the elves, and the foul-smelling monsters take down the two male elves with powerful strikes from their bows. The female elf escapes, with the Urgals in pursuit...
