Act 2, Scenes 28, 29, 30 and 31 Summary
In these brief but increasingly intense scenes, the play begins to build toward its climax, as Alan both narrates and plays out the events of the night he blinded the horses.
Scene 28 - As Alan narrates the action, Jill appears. She and Alan go on their first date. Jill explains that her mother hates the idea of her dating, because she hates men, and then talks about how she herself loves men, particularly their eyes. She says she thinks Alan finds eyes fascinating as well, or at least horse's eyes. She says she saw Alan staring into Nugget's eyes, and playfully asks whether he finds horses sexy in the way girls sometimes do. Alan angrily denies it, and then tells Dysart that everything that happened was Jill's fault. Dysart pushes him to explain. Alan begins to do so. Then he and Jill play out the night that Jill insisted...
