Act 1, Scene 7 Summary

Scene 7 - Dora greets Dysart, saying Frank is out. When Dysart asks whether she has any idea how Alan could have done what he did, she says she can't understand it. She tells him that for years Alan has had a picture of a horse hanging on the wall opposite his bed. She explains that, as a little boy, he used to love hearing her read stories about horses, which she did in a horsy kind of voice. She also relates telling Alan that when the Christian cavalry first appeared in the New World, they thought the horse and rider were one being, a god.
