Summary

In Chapter 22, it was while Mike was in America for Ellie’s burial that he learned Mrs. Lee had been found dead in the old quarry. Three hundred pounds were discovered in her cottage. Because Mrs. Lee was unable to testify, Ellie’s death was ruled accidental. Mike was most shocked when he learned that Claudia was killed in a riding accident.

Before he left America to return to England, Lippincott told Mike he had written him a letter that he had mailed to Gypsy’s Acre. He wanted Mike to look for it when he arrived back home.
