Book 2, Chapter 2 Summary

Bendrix reads a new report from Parkis and he is angry with Parkis for insinuating that Sarah is unfaithful. However, the report also includes a love letter and, when Bendrix reads it, he is suddenly angry at Sarah for writing a love letter that is not wrapped up in the codes that he was forced to use when he and Sarah were having their affair.

Here, Bendrix admits to being a jealous man and even goes so far as to be jealous of Henry. In fact, he wishes that he were married to Sarah because, if he were, it would force her lovers to deal with his existence. Instead, he is just some jilted lover sitting on the sidelines.
