Emma

Emma is the five year-old main character in the novel "Emma's Secret" by Steena Holmes. It is Emma's kidnapping and return which create the core of the novel. Emma is a bright, loving, and patient child who wandered out the door when she was three, only to be picked up by Dottie. Dottie and her husband Jack care for Emma for two years. They call her "Emmie," and she looks on them as though they were grandparents. When Emma is found and returns home, she misses Jack terribly. She writes and draws pictures for him all the time. She gives the pictures to Peter and Megan to mail for her. Emma gets along relatively well with her older sisters, Hannah and Alexis; though, like any siblings, there are some issues.
