Summary

Chapter 37 opens with Eliza staring at a blank page, trying to force herself to finish Monstrous Sea. Eliza knows how she wants it to end, but cannot commit anything to paper. The longer she tries, the more “dread” (321) and anxiety she feels. She searches Olivia Kane online.

In Chapter 38, Eliza returns to school. Eliza finds a note in her locker from one of her classmates who is a fan. Wallace finds Eliza in the hallway. Eliza thinks about how she does not want what happened to Olivia Kane to happen to her. Eliza writes Olivia a letter explaining her situation and asking for advice. Eliza includes a postscript asking if Olivia if she had an ending in mind for the series Olivia wrote.
