Yellow VW bug

The yellow VW bug that appears in the flashback scenes in the novel represents synchronization and the relationship between Dan and Jen. Dan and Jen met because of a yellow VW bug. His friend drove one and he was supposed to get into his car but Jen, who also drove a yellow VW bug, was also waiting at the curb and he got into her car instead. Dan calls it synchronization that he ended up in the wrong car, but with the right woman.
