Chapter 2 Summary

On Monday afternoon, Alisa studies at Mary K's house. Mary K's parents are strict, but Alisa finds their home comforting since her evil stepmother-to-be has redecorated the house she shares with her father. Alisa used to finds Kithic's circles to be amazing and natural, but she stopped going when Morgan made scary things happen like breaking things without touching them. Mary K and Alisa are discussing Mary's current crush when Morgan enters. As Mary and Morgan continue the conversation about boys, Alisa notices the books in Morgan's backpack, especially a green-covered book that looks like an old diary. Morgan notes that their mother's crocuses are dead though they just started blooming last week, but Alisa is only half paying attention because she is drawn to the green book and does not even realize that she is reaching for it until Mary calls her...
