Chapter 15 Summary

Reacher and Alice head to Red House Ranch and Reacher is troubled by the lie about the ring. Bobby opens the door surprised, but when shown badges, he lets them in. Rusty vaguely describes the man, woman and their car, unemotional and sure she's done nothing wrong.

The assassins make Ellie take a bath, and one of the men stays in the room the whole time, making her very uncomfortable. She finishes as fast as she can, and gets into bed naked as she has no pajamas either. Meanwhile, Alice and Reacher go back to Pecos and he explains his theories to her. They go back to her office, Alice gives Hack an update, and Reacher calls the Abilene trooper again to ask if the border patrol investigation twelve years previous was a white wash.
