Chapter 7 Summary

Reacher knows there is already plenty of feed in the storeroom, and the feed bags are all stamped with the store they were purchased in. San Angelo is north and east of Echo County, and when they turn out of the gate, they head south and west. His adrenaline climbs and he tries to pace himself, knowing what is to come. He asks how far the feed place is, playing along as though he doesn't know better. They tell him an hour or so, but then say they will be going for a drink first - their treat. Reacher is agreeable and pleasant, making light conversation and watching the hot, dry deserted scenery go by, only to aware that they could leave him in the middle of no where.
