Chapter 6 Summary

Reacher goes upstairs to get some sleep, disrupted only by Josh and Billy, who return smelling of alcohol. He wakes early and showers.

The watchers assemble, but this time the routine has changed. They are to meet new people in Coyanosa Draw for instructions and payment. The change in plan doesn't bother them. They drive there and follow directions by a man outside who tells them to park in the barn. The driver shuts off the engine, feeling safe and relaxed, just before he and the passenger are shot in the head and killed. The boy in the middle is shot a moment later. Then the windows are left open a crack to admit bugs for decomposition help but deter predators who might aid in the early discovery of the bodies.
